Brickmania has released two new digital instruction sets for sale on their website. The digital instruction sets they have added this week are the Bf-109E (designed by Cody Osell) and the Aichi D3A1 “Val” (designed by Daniel Siskind). Both of these models look really impressive, but my personal favorite out of these two is definitely the Aichi D3A1!
According to the Wikipedia page for the Aichi D3A1 it was a World War II carrier-borne dive bomber and the Allies used “Val” as its reporting name. It was the primary dive bomber of the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) and was involved in almost all IJN actions, including the attack on Pearl Harbor. One of the first details on the model for this aircraft that jumps out at me is the excellent canopy and how well it captures the look of that part on the real aircraft. Another really distinct component of the Aichi D3A1 is the landing gear/wheels which the designer has done an excellent job on. Both of these features of the aircraft in addition to the excellent color and profile work contribute to just how accurate the finished model looks. Brickmania also offers a sticker pack for the Aichi D3A1 that you can purchase separately from the model instructions (tap here to view it in the Brickmania store) that includes some great additional details.
If you don’t already have these awesome models in your collection it is definitely worth checking them out! In addition to the instructions there are also sticker packs and special parts available for purchase so you can complete these models in all of their glory.
