New Brickmania Digital Instructions (5/18)

Brickmania has released two new digital instruction sets for sale on their website. The digital instruction sets they have added this week are the Elemental Taxi – 23rd Century Cab (designed by John Canepa) and the Freedom 7 Capsule + Astronaut Recovery Helicopter (designed by Yitzy Kasowitz). I continue to be very impressed with the space themed builds that Brickmania designs and the Freedom 7 Capsule + Astronaut Recovery Helicopter is definitely my personal favorite out of these two models.

According to Wikipedia Mercury-Redstone 3, or Freedom 7, was the first United States human spaceflight, on May 5, 1961, piloted by astronaut Alan Shepard. Shepard named his space capsule Freedom 7, setting a precedent for the remaining six Mercury astronauts naming their spacecraft. After re-entry, the capsule landed by parachute on the North Atlantic Ocean off the Bahamas where Shepard and the capsule were picked up by helicopter and brought to U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain. Prior to seeing this kit I wasn’t familiar with this particular mission, but in looking through the photos I have found online it is clear that the designer has done an excellent job of recreating the distinctive shape and look of both the capsule and the recovery helicopter. In order to capture some of the details that can’t be represented by bricks alone for these models you can separately purchase a sticker pack (tap here to view it in the Brickmania store) that will aid in your recreation of this awesome piece of space history.

If you don’t already have these awesome models in your collection it is definitely worth checking them out! In addition to the instructions there are also sticker packs and special parts available for purchase so you can complete these models in all of their glory.
