New Brickmania Digital Instructions (8/10)

Brickmania has released two new digital instruction sets for sale on their website. The digital instruction sets they have added this week are the BTR-80 (designed by Daniel Siskind) and the 2S3 Akatsiya (designed by Daniel Siskind). Both of these models look really impressive, but my personal favorite out of these two is definitely the BTR-80!
According to the Wikipedia page for the BTR-80 it was an “8×8 wheeled amphibious armored personnel carrier (APC) designed in the USSR” and was “first deployed during the Soviet-Afghan War”. Apparently the BTR-80 was adopted in 1985 and replaced the previous vehicles (the BTR-60 and BTR-70) in the Soviet Army. The designer has really done an excellent job of recreating the shape and overall appearance of this APC. The details that initially jump out for me with this model are the main gun on the front roof and the surface texture on the back roof. Brickmania also offers a couple of BrickArms products that you can purchase separately from the model instructions (tap here to view the BrickArms Lightweight Combat Vest LCV – Sidearmin the Brickmania store and tap here to view the BrickArms AKS74U in the Brickmania store) that give some added realism for a minifigure that you pair up with this excellent build.
If you don’t already have these awesome models in your collection it is definitely worth checking them out! In addition to the instructions there are also sticker packs and special parts available for purchase so you can complete these models in all of their glory.
