New LEGO Union Pacific Locomotive Instructions By jepaz Available On Rebrickable
Rebrickable user jepaz has released new sets of instructions for building the EMD SD90MAC-H2 and EMD SD90/43MAC Locomotives out of LEGO! These locomotives require 2257 and 2236 parts respectively and both look super accurate when compared to their real world counterparts. I am a big fan of the work that jepaz does and these look to be great additions to the list of impressive LEGO instruction sets that he has for sale on Rebrickable.
In addition to the excellent and eye catching Union Pacific colors on both locomotives the other details that jump out for me are the railings along the sides of the locomotive as well as the excellent shaping and details on the cab/front end! According to Wikipedia the “EMD SD90MAC is a 6,000 hp (4,470 kW) C-C diesel-electric locomotive produced by General Motors Electro-Motive Division”. Apparently “it is, with the SD80MAC, one of the largest single-engine locomotives produced by EMD, surpassed only by the dual-engine DDA40X”. I also found it interesting that the “SD9043MAC is the 4,300 hp (3,210 kW) variant, using a 710 Engine instead of the H-engine, meant to be a temporary alternative while EMD tried to solve the H-engine’s issues”.
Overall these EMD SD90MAC-H2 and EMD SD90/43MAC Locomotive builds look amazing and I could definitely see these being great additions to a LEGO City layout as well as a LEGO Train collection in general.
